Activities of the Organization
Since its inception in 1992, HETONA has been engaged in a number of activities like forestry, agriculture, rural development, water and sanitation, livelihoods, women empowerment, health, literacy, ecology and so on. HETONA has the experience of various community based projects/programmes, which were implemented on participatory approach. The main projects which were impact making, implemented were (1) wasteland development and watershed management from 1994 to 1998 sponsored by Ministry of Rural Development, GOI. (2)Load development on micro-hydro project Janaki Chatti SHP 1997-98 sponsored by UNDP-GEF. (3) Swajal project on rural drinking water supply and environmental sanitation (1998-2006) sponsored by World Bank. (4) Water and sanitation-Bagi, Badalda (2202-03) sponsored by UNDP-SGF. (5) To identify and popularize appropriate technology on water management, health and sanitation (2004-06) sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology GOI. (6) Swayamsidha on women empowerment (2002-07) sponsored by ICDS, GOU (7) Diversified Agriculture support project (2001-03) sponsored by WB. (8) Swap (2007-12) sponsored by WB. LIPH (2006-12) sponsored by IFAD etc.
In these project HEATON has worked with several partners like India Water Partnership (IWP, New Delhi), Consulting Engineering Services New Delhi, Tide Technocrats Bangalore, DULAS Landon, Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust Jolly Grant, Dehradun, PMU of Swajal and Swap, Dehradun and DPMU Uttarkashi, PMU DASP Dehradun, PMU LIPH Dehradun and DMU Uttarkashi (Purola), Jal Sansthan Uttarkashi and New Tehri etc.
