 Under health and hygiene HETONA has worked as a field NGO and entered agreement with Mother NGO HIHT. Tow programmes were undertaken; 1) reproductive and child health (RCH) and 2) adolescent health (Kishoriuthan).
(a) Reproductive and Child Health: The project is mainly focussed on pre and ante-natal’s health. Due to lack of knowledge and certain superstitions prevailed in the society the female reproductive organs are more vulnerable to attract reproductive transmission infections apart from unwanted/frequent pregnancies. Hence our basic role was to make aware eligible couples  on regular ANC/PNC check up, immunization, safe delivery, breast feeding, proper use of contraceptives, prevention of sexually transmission diseases, hygiene and sanitation.  The programme was
undertaken in 16 Gram Panchayats covering 10000 populations. The total ANCs identified were 1263 the number of PNCs 148 during the project period. They were linked with PHCs/CHSs for services. The following photographs show the activities:
Kishoriuthan (Adolescent Health): World Food programme and integrated child development services, government of Uttarakhand jointly sponsored project started in Chinyali block of district Uttarkashi and we as FNGO and HIHT-RDI as MNGO have jointly worked in this project. The project envisaged capacity building of adolescent girls between age group of 11-19 on sexual and reproductive health, live skills and vocational skills and make them aware on HIV/AIDS. The programme is to form and strengthen kishori samooh at anganwadi centres  and impart the  leaders training so that they could train adolescents at village level.  In total 35 kishori samooh having 638 members were formed, 121 meetings were held in which 2451 people of all stakeholders participated. A ten days residential trainings as organised for TOTs ie. Sakhis as the following pictures show:
 
5 Others: Apart from this, HETONA has undertaken activities on load development on Jnaki Chatti SHP near Yamunotri in which CES bew Delhi, tide technocrate of Bangaluru and Dulas of England were project parterns and designers. Upgradation of tradition watermills in District Uttarkashi and SHG formation under SGSY and NABAD were undertaken in Bhatwari, Dunda and Chinyali blocks   of district Uttarkashi.
